Belief, Knowledge, and Truth (3)

Belief is placing trust in someone or something. Knowledge is understanding. Truth is actuality. Philosophers think outside the box and use these 3 elements. Without knowledge, you couldn’t believe, and without belief, how are you to seek the truth? Each person who is well educated puts together a theory or belief. With that theory, they get attached to the thought and begin to believe the theory as a truth. What is the truth about your knowledge? The truth is nobody really understands it. You can be so far fetched with one statement that somebody thinks you are totally wrong and begins to imagine their own truth in this world. You use your brain to think and learn new knowledge. To me, belief comes from your heart. You may face many obstacles that stand in the way of your beliefs, but consequently you heart tells you to trust your own decisions and to create your own truth.

Rhetorical Analysis (2)

In the movie “V for Vendetta” the main character, V, is a freedom fighter. He wants to convince the people of London to celebrate the 5th of November. That day in November was marked as a night to fight for justice. He wants to follow very closely to what a man tried to accomplish in London in 1605. That man was Guy Fawkes, and his main objective was to blow up the House of Parliament.

After a period of war, terror and disease, a man by the name of Adam Sutler was elected High Chancellor by the people of London. He promised them peace. Instead, he brought them cruelty and oppression. He set curfews and gave rations. He asked for the people’s “silent, obedient consent”. Well, much to High Chancellor’s satisfaction, everyone did that until one brave man spoke up.

“Last night, I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey to remind this country of what it has forgotten.” These empowering words were spoken by a man in disguise who goes by”V”. He broadcasts a speech to the people of London, and to persuade the citizens. He uses Aristotle’s three modes of persuasion and all three purposes to argue. The whole speech basically explains how terrible and unjust the government is. In order to convince the people of this governmental issue, he mainly uses forensic argumentation. One of the things he says explains how everything the government does is unfair. Pathos, one of the modes of persuasion, was used many times throughout the speech. He tried to effect people’s emotions when talking about ‘fear getting the best of them” or “cruelty, intolerance and oppression”. He uses evaluation to portray the bad of the things the Chancellor is doing and how wrong totalitarian government truly is. There is a mean to end used in the last few lines of V’s speech. He asks the people of London to make a stand and to remind people what they can once again have: fairness, justice, and freedom.

V presents a strong argument to the people of London. He wants November the 5th to bring out fear in the government by blowing up the House of Parliament. Others are convinced to join him in his quest of freedom. He reached out to all men, women, and some kids and to me that’s a successful speech.

Want to know more about me?(1)

Well, I really don't have anything exciting to tell you. My birthday is on January 28th and I will be 17 years old. I've lived in the same house and in the same little town my entire life. I'm outgoing and crazy. I love to have fun and experience life. My family consists of four people. My parents, Don and Bridget Boudreaux, always taught me to set goals for myself and be my own person. They push me to make good grades and make something of myself. My brother, Seth, is one of the most liberal human beings you will every meet in your life. Put all of his judgments aside, and he is one of the most caring people I know. He always gives me the best advice, and I know that he cares about me more than most people. My grandparents on both sides of my family are very important to me. I always put pressure on myself not to disappoint them and sometimes it can get really tough. Put all that aside, my family are the most important people in my life.

Friends are also very important to me. Well, they are typically important to every teenager, but mine are truly special to my heart. The three girls that I call best friends are Karli, Sarah, and Maegon. Lately, I feel like I have been distancing myself from them, and I am trying very hard to change that. I want them to know how much I care about them because they really are so important. I basically have more guy friends than I do girls. They tend to have less drama than most people. The four boys that I call best friends are Clint, Clint M., Dane, and Jarrett. I care about each and every one of them. I tend to put their happiness before mine way too much. I am learning that I myself need to be happy as well. I try everything I can to raise spirits and cheer everybody up.

I go to East Ascension High School and I’m your typical nerd. I love to read, write, and learn. Having straight A’s and being one of the top ranks in my class are all I think about these days. I want to make the grades and make my dream come true. I have tried my hardest not to become a teacher like my mother, but I know that is what I am meant to do with my life. I plan on attending Southeastern Louisiana University, and I can’t wait to start a new chapter in my life.
